Grief is as unique as it is complicated. Feelings of loss come in countless shapes and the ability to process the feelings isn't always clear or can feel overwhelming. Writing is but one of the tools we can pull from our self-care kits while we are experiencing the natural phases of grief, change and loss. Through gentle writing prompts, discussion and optional sharing time, this grief writing workshop is at once an addition and an introduction to the ways in which writing can help us break isolation and rebuild community in uncertain times. Creative, journal and letter writing prompts will ask us to consider the large and small losses in our lives and look at how we may be healing and growing, before, during and after inevitable endings. Bring a dedicated notebook and pen to these three Zoom sessions, co-facilitated by our grief group’s own Carole Priven, and experienced author and reporter Denise Sullivan, a familiar face among our SFV writing community. Both Carole and Denise are prepared to share their own experience with loss and the role writing has played in their continuous healing.
